You can do an exchange of US Dollars to Euro Dollars at most airports. Some banks may be capable of also doing an exchange. Even though the HIP is complete in and of itself in regards to travel, meals and lodging, one may be more relaxed just knowing that he has local currency available in case of an emergency. Most hotels will take a credit card; however, taxis and local restaurants may require Euro. If you are staying in the area before or after the program, it would definitely be advantageous to obtain Euro.
